What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy
A compact side-byside with tiny footprint (for use in public transport and narrow doors). Add seats or carrycots (with adaptors) to increase the frame's weight capacity for children up to 50 pounds.
Budget double with front and back suspension for uneven surfaces. Large storage basket, padded handlebars, and large storage basket.

Size
In general, double pushchairs are wider than single models - particularly when they're side-by-side buggies like the Kolcraft Geo 3 and UPPAbaby Vista 2. The good news is that this extra width allows them to carry heavier kids without straining the chassis. Other features make them stand out: large pop-out canopy that come with SPF 50 protection and large peekaboo windows, swivel-lock front wheels to aid in maneuvering tight spaces like shopping aisles and a cup holder for one parent, and a clever fold mechanism that can be operated by one hand. The 10-inch wheels aren't designed for rough terrain, but they can handle city streets and theme park rides quite well.
These lightweight side-by-side buggies come with surprisingly low prices.
Weight
The heavier a double buggy is the easier it will be to move and lift. The Joie Evalite Duo is a good choice if you need to be aware of weight, as it's the lightest we've seen in our lab tests, but it still has plenty of features, including nice-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and windows that peek out and a quick-release fold that can be folded flat in a matter of seconds; four-wheel suspension to take on rough terrain and an adjustable front wheel that makes navigating narrow aisles in supermarkets and shops effortless. It's also super-affordable at just more than PS1,000. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.
Flexibility
A good double buggy will provide a great deal of flexibility, no matter if you have twins or an infant and a toddler. The narrow tandem buggies are ideal for navigating narrow spaces, while side by side models ensure that your children are properly cared for and will help you keep your eyes on them as you travel around the supermarket or the park. Many also have a wide selection of seating options, so you can adapt them as your children grow. Some offer the option of adding a ride-on or car seat.
The Joie Evalite duo is a perfect example. It can hold two seats or a car seat, and its easy-to-use adaptors allow you to change from single to double in seconds. It also comes with a large pop-out UPF 50+ sunshade that can be used as a canopy and adjustable leg rests, as well as windows that peek out from both seats and a standing fold that's simple and quick to fold using just one hand; and a high-quality suspension that makes light work of rough terrain.
The iCandy Peach tri-fold buggy is another alternative. Their slim frames are ideal for narrow doors and aisles, and they can comfortably accommodate twins, a baby or a big kid thanks to the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack' board (which you can purchase separately). They come with a large basket, and come with all the accessories you may need, including rain covers and liners.
Tandem buggies are generally designed with your children sitting side-by-side. This can make them more stable and easy to push on uneven surfaces, however they can be difficult to maneuver around and over kerbs. double stroller are larger than a one-seater and can be too large to pass through doorways.
Comfort
One of the more comfortable, lightweight doubles we've tested the buggy has raised stadium-style seating for both seats so that your children can enjoy the view; nice-sized UPF 50+ canopies with peekaboo windows; a padded toddler seat, as well as an add-on RumbleSeat, which has an adjustable leg and foot rests; and a single-parent cup holder. Testers are awestruck by the way that the seats recline by pushing the levers under each seat. They also note that the straps are simple to fasten and unfasten with one hand. It's also simple to fold, with a twist mechanism on the handle, making it as easy as could be, and stores by putting the backrest up to make it easy to access.
With 30 different configurations (it'll carry twins as well as a toddler and baby or three kids if you add the option of a 'PiggyBack' board) it's a great option for families who want to be able to grow with their child. Its spacious shopping basket as well as soft suspension makes it ideal on roads and in cities too. It is also very affordable. BabyGearLab recommends it for kids between the ages of 6 and 6.
